It is with great sadness that we inform you that Peter Robbins passed away this morning, 21 February, after a short illness.
Peter was the founder of the Caldecote Church Friends in 2010, originally a handful of family and friends dedicated to saving a redundant church in Caldecote. It’s thanks to his dedication and persuasion that the database of supporters now numbers nearly 200 and is growing.  Peter was the driving force behind such successes as a £50,000 restoration programme to the fabric to the building and a more recent £10,00 roof repair.  His tireless fundraising meant that we were able to fund many smaller projects ourselves.  He rejoiced in every success and praise, however small, and took on board every criticism, however stinging.
It is our greatest regret that we were unable to grant Peter his last wish: to hear the bell ring high in its bell tower again.

“… any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."  John Donne - Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions, "Meditation XVII", 1624.

                                                Requiescat in pace, Peter
